The arrow indicates where the repair is to the sail. On the right is the new one!

Wednesday, 9 December 2009
After a couple of years of doing 'hard labour', my sail was in need of a little bit of tender love and care.
In its lifetime the sail has had to deal with winds up to 50 knots, so the sail had started to show some signs of fraying on one edge. This meant it was time to get some repairs done on my little orange wind catcher!
The biggest problem with the sail is sun damage. The sun seems to destroy everything, but I decided to get it repaired anyway. As I couldn't see any reason to change or modify the sail that has proved itself ten fold, I decided to get an exact copy of the sail made and put the old away as a spare.
One comment that seems to come up all the time when I'm on an expedition, is that many large ships noticed my orange sail out in the middle of nowhere. So it's a good thing to know that you're noticed, even if the question asked is, "What the hell is that out there?"
Now who said orange was a funny colour for a sail!
